RAHMAN Theory

Went to a product launch for a new anti-diabetic agent last night.
It was launched at a grandiose place, with a big turn out, as expected, well not actually for the talk, but for the food.

Lectures were delivered by two distinguished Endocrinologists, Prof AK and Prof WC.

Interestingly, in addition to learning things about diabetes, I also learned a new political theory, i.e. the RAHMAN theory.

I am not sure who actually started it first, but I quote from Prof's lecture, that, the theory is quite accurate in predicting who the future PMs are.

Here it goes:

Stand By

What a cold morning today. The whether was cloudy and it was drizzling out there. I yearned to have a good sleep till late morning.

I have not been able to enjoy waking up late over the past few weekends and I thought these weekends I would be able to have all the time for myself.

No more on-call, no more weekend round, no more course, no more conference and no more locum.

But today, I have to be on STAND BY :o(

Kilometrico

Many years ago, during housemanship, I used to like this Kilometrico pen very much because it has a sharp ballpoint and it writes smoothly. It costs RM0.80 then.

However, I noticed, everytime I used it, the ink would stopped coming less than a week. I got so irritated, especially in the middle of ward rounds with consultants, I used to cursed the bloody pen and threw it into the dustbin.
Not until I realized one day, that, the ink was actually finished within one week I used it; which meant, as a houseman, I used to clerk, and clerk, write, and write, summarized and summarized until the ink ran out within one week!.

Those days, our salary was just over RM 1700.00, and on top of that I had to forked out RM3.20 a month for ball pens.
But nowadays it seems, I have plenty of them unused (thanks to conferences and drug talks) until the ink get clotted within.

KOMTAR 3rd Floor

Fifteen years ago,
A once centre of activities,
The busiest walk way in town,
A hang out for the retired senior citizens,
The most hapenning place,
Gone were the glories,
The last to go,
Closure of MacD.

Golden triangle

I skipped few of the lectures in the afternoon and headed to the Golden Triangle. There was big sales going on. Just checked out some of the electronic gadgets at Sg Wang.
Night time was just so beautiful at the side walk. Scores of tourists were seen hanging around. Just got the feeling as if I was not in Malaysia.

The area was so metropolis.
Some free show going on.
Passed through one of the busiest street.
I headed to this magnificent scenery of 'hungriness'.
Being a typical Cina-Pek, I just could't live a day without rice and of course Chinese delicacies.

Here was what I had:
Ginger-Onion Chicken Rice, RM 6.00.

Kam Heong Spicy Fried Lala. RM 10.00.

Armada

All the hotels within the walking distance to the hotel venue were apparently fully booked two weeks earlier, including the budget one. Nevertheless, I braved myself to be there unprepared. I just liked doing things impromptu, including finding a place to sleep.
Luckily, I managed to bump into an old friend, whom was willing to be "parasitized". Thanks to Chris, who was willing to share his room. Anyway, he got someone to sponsor his stay at Armada Hotel for two.

It was just a 5 minute ride by taxi that cost us between RM5 to RM 14, depending whether the taxi driver used meter or not.

The room cost about RM 160++, and traveling was also quite convenience as the Putra LRT (Asia Jaya Station) was just right in front of the hotel.

Random pic

After the last lecture at Glenmarie, I wondered off at the vicinity of P'Street before my flight back at 8pm.

I later took the LRT to KL Sentral and boarded the KLIA Exp to the airport.

Here are some random pictures I took:

Glenmarie

Recently went to the 10th Scientific Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Transplantation held in Glenmarie, some isolated place far from the busy KL city, but not too outskirt, as I realized it was just next to Kelana Jaya. For someone who is very unfamiliar with the place, getting there is like a pain in the neck.
It was quite a full packed two-day lectures. This year's team was "Back To Basics". The lectures were excellent and very informative, at least for me, who knew nothing about transplant.
The hotel venue was just nice and comfortable. I managed to skipped few lectures cause I was too comfortable on the bed.
Nothing much could be said about food as it'd never be nice as with any mass cooking.
