Balik Pulau
Felt like a tourist and wandered off to the suburb. This showed how much I have missed home.

Happy CNY 2009
I would like to wish friends and bloggers a very happy and prosperous Chinese New Year. Despite the unfavorable economy, may this Ox year brings us more $$$ and more importantly good health.

Free
Got myself registered and tried out the internet connection. Reception was only good around the main entrance. The speed was nothing much to shout about as it was slower than my Streamyx 512. Every time when logging in, there was a delayed two-minute 'advertisement' about Penang before we could proceed. Nevertheless, thumb's up for anything FREE.

Referal specialist
For the last few years or so, it seemed that the MOH has produced a new generation of specialists called "Referal Specialists".
Physician is indeed a dying breed.
I foresee that by 2020, Physicians are extint from MOH.

This is the sad situation we see nowadays in a ward called "Medical ward".
The case is very simple.
A young man who is an ex-IVDU with HIV infection, HCV positive and old PTB (just completed treatment 4 months ago), currently presented with left leg cellulitis and cough of 3 weeks duration.
The patient was admitted to a ward called "Medical ward" and was seen by a specialist called "Physician", and so what was the plan?
1. Refer Orthopaedic and Dermatology for cellulitis.
2. Refer Infectious Disease for HIV.
3. Refer Gastroenterology for Hepatitis C.
4. Refer Respiratory Medicine for TRO PTB.
5. Refer Psychiatry for Methadone replacement therapy.
So I wonder, what does the Physician do in the Medical ward nowadays?

Victim
Just few weeks ago, I attended to a patient who was a victim of snatch theft in Taman Sentosa. She suffered multiple laceration and abrasion wounds when she fell and was dragged for a distance.
Luckily she did not suffer any major injuries.
I adviced her to be extra careful as that place is well known for snatch thefts.

Damn it, last night I was the victim of snatch theft.
Sad.
