Time to give, time to heal
I was in a Christmas dinner last night on invitation from a colleague. My friend and myself felt weird, on why I would attend such dinner when I don't know anyone else.
Well, people who know me, think I am always going for the free food.
That's right in a way.

I was having my weekend on-call round today, and I thought of rushing through the round, trying to finish earlier when a phone call just pissed me off.
I was seeing a referral in the busy medical ward when the stupid male nurse called me to see a walk-in patient who wanted some consultation because he was scalded by hot oil over ther arms.
At that moment, I was so angry when he passed the phone to the patient. I shouted at the patient and told him off that he has no bussiness of coming to the ward to seek consultation, what's more when I don't do such thing.
I told him, he should seek treatment at the OPD or A&E, but he said he had seen the A&E MO, and that did not make him better.
What's more irritating when he pleaded to see me as soon as possible because he was about to board a plane to Taiwan, kind of rude.
I was mad and was about to chop the stupid male nurse's head off for entertaining such patient in the ward, more so, involving me.
Somehow, my heart melts when people are apologetic. I just can't see people in distress.
Guess, people just know who to choose, when they know I would not get angry.

Andaman
We were taken by surprise, for such a service, considering that this is a 5-star hotel. It definitely did not reflect the standard that one paid for.
What more surprise was, the management of the hotel was changed overnight, effective 10th December. They are now under the management of a "Luxury Collection Resort".
Everything was so not upto expectation. The only consolation was, wireless internet connection is FREE.

2010 Outlook
I went to the Star Property Fair today and listened to what Master David Koh got to say about the Feng Shui outlook for the year 2010.
Here's the summary of few interesting predictions by the Master:
Here's the summary of few interesting predictions by the Master:
I have yet to see the so-called '2nd wave' coming. But then, better be on the safe side. Till today, we haven't had a single idea on when the hospital is going to give us the vaccine (which had arrived months ago). That is really upsetting.
On the good side, the economy is recovering but does that mean the property price is going up again? Bad signs for the buyers. The property price is going to go up and the bank loan rate is going up too. Why so fast? I haven't bought one yet. Sigh...
I wonder if a strong lady is coming from Mongolia? Will CSL be the president? Too many questions. On the good side, we don't have any natural catastrophe next year.
Those main door of the house that faces north east will be in trouble. To defuse the bad luck, the Master advised that one sticks a strip of wood on top of the main door.
For those who is interested to know more of the 2010 prediction, one can buy their book costing RM50 which comes with 2 languages. How expensive, considering one only needs to read one language. Good trick.
Anyway, all the books were grabbed clean by the uncles and aunties before I managed to reach the counter.

CPD
Drug talk here is so different from other states, in the sense that, the response is always overhelming.
Past few talks saw excess of diners compared to the seats as allocated. One may think doc over here were so up-to-date with the CPD, but the fact was, half of the spectators were actually their spouses and children.
So, instead of the supposingly CPD events, it has become a feasting party.
During these talks, one could see all kind of characters, exposing the colorful side of the participants.
We see hungry ghosts feasting during buffets. We see collectors, collecting the left over hotel pencils. We see drinkers, grabbing as many bottled mineral water as possible.

Cari makan ma...
Recently our ward was installed with a so-called 'high-tech' security access system. All of us were issued with a security card, and everytime one wants to enter or exit the ward, one needs to touch the card on the electronic sensor, some sort like "Touch & Go".
I just wonder how much such technology cost?
Anyway, just few days into implementation, the system was disabled. Apparently, someone must have complained about the hassle. Almost every minute, there were outsiders, support service staffs or patients who passed through the door and each time, they had to press the bell to ask the staffs to open the door, since they didn't have the access cards.
Soon someone was so fed up, and eventually it was decided that the door be left freely opened again to everyone. Yes, so much so, after how much we have spent, and since how heavy we have to carry one extra card.
Anyhow, today I was so busy and worked non-stopped from morning doing donkey job.
There, came a cute-young-thing (CYT) and quite sweet indeed. She has apparently waited for me for quite some time and eventually walked over to my table to introduce herself.
Initially, I thought she was one of the drug reps, and who knows, might want to give me a sponsored trip. She requested me to spare her 5 minutes.
Sadly, she wasn't a drug rep but a mag rep. She wanted to sell me Newsweek or Reader Digest subscribtion. She also brought along various local 'not so sell out' magazines, to be given free if I subscribed to the said magazines.
She asked me, what types of magazines I am interested in? I told her, cosmetic surgery, gardening, pets and aquarium, none of which she had.
I was dissapointed. But, she seemed so persistent, kept talking on and on, even offered me the said magazines with even better discount.
5 minutes soon became 15 minutes. I was so irritated. I felt like telling her off but then I just couldn't be rude to a CYT.
She had come to the wrong person indeed, to someone who is very stingy and with no interest in all those political or boring issues in Newsweek or Reader Digest. I told her I could get all those from the internet, through the dissapointing P1 I am subscribing right now.
Sigh. I am just thinking "cari makan punya susah" (how difficult to make a living) nowadays.
I am still pondering, why would a CYT want to persuade a busy doc in the ward to buy magazines. Wouldn't she get better customers else where?
If it is for other doc, she would have been slaughtered violently.

No P1
I got fed up with P1 Wimax already, as 1 week in a row, I am experiencing extremely poor internet connection. Surprisingly, during the initial 1 week trial, the speed was alright and even better than Streamyx 512. This made me so believe, I was conned. Today, I have written in the 3rd complaint. My two previous complaints were not replied. Even the toll free number got engaged. Real disappointment. I feel like going down to their office in PJ and smash the RM300 right onto their faces and then "Potong" the P1 line, instead of them so aggressively trying to "Potong" others now.
